summer salad. The sweetness of the pear, bitterness of the frisée lettuce, and those yummy  candied pumpkin seeds are magic together, not to mention these creamy delicious bits of cheese! Although blue cheese can be very strong, this combination is perfection.👌🍐😋You can always substitute for feta or goat cheese as well, but I won’t.🤷‍♀️So refreshing and delicious.👌😋

I was lucky enough to go visit this gorgeous region last Sept when I went to see my Nephew Lino who is a Soldier for the Italian Army.🙏🇮🇹💙
Legend has it that Captain Giovanni Baglioni and his army were only able to loot eggs, sugar and some flasks of sweet wine from local farms. So the captain ordered all the ingredients to be heated and mixed, which turned into this amazing 🇮🇹 creation of this light smooth and velvety custard.👌
This Northern Italian Dessert Custard made with only 3 basic ingredients goes back centuries. Everyone has it’s  own version. People are still going crazy the this. As I mentioned in the video you can substitute the Sweet Sicilian Marsala wine for any of your fav alcohol drinks. You can use Port wine, Prosecco, Amaretto, Cognac or Limoncello just to name a few.👌
Serve in a pretty Martini glass or a smaller one like I did. This recipe makes enough for 2 full glasses or 4 half full glasses. You can double the recipe and make 4 full glasses. You can enjoy this with cookies like Savoiardi of simply topped with your fav berries and sprinkled with cinnamon or Cacao. At Christmas time it’s poured over sliced panettone. You can have this 🇮🇹 custard warm or cold. I had mine cold and it was simple delicious and refreshing!👌😋

Friday night I was invited to the Sicilian Messina Friday night I was invited to the Sicilian Messina Club of Ontario. Grazie to @linda.novembre and her partner @frank_maio. ❤️ I met Linda over 45 years ago at my very first full-time job. She’s Calabrese, Frank is Siciliano, and after all these years we’re still great friends.
What a special evening it was, spending time with director and actor @cangialosigianni and the beautiful actress @paolasalute and her family, all visiting from Sicilia, Italia. 🇮🇹 We shared incredible food, sang, danced, and laughed all night. Giovanni, your stories are absolutely hilarious, and your energy is contagious! 🤌🥳 We all need a little Giovanni in our lives. 😂
As a little girl, I was raised watching live theatre and Italian comedy films with my family. Those memories are some of the happiest of my childhood, and they still make me smile today.

Peach Crumble.🍑Sorry I said peach cobbler in my vi Peach Crumble.🍑Sorry I said peach cobbler in my video. They are both very similar. So easy and delicious.👩‍🍳This is a healthier version made with rolled oates. Just the right amount of sugar. I baked it in the middle rack at 375 degrees F. I left it uncovered for 40 mins or until golden brown. Bake in a 9 or 10 inch round baking pan. Mine dish was a bit bigger I believe. I forgot to lightly butter the bottom of my dish this time before adding my peaches. I served mine with yogurt ice cream. You can add toasted nuts on your peaches right before adding the crumble mixture if you like. So delicious.👌😋🍑
These peaches were a bit more firm, but if you use ripe peaches, you will get a creamier texture once baked.👌😋

I grew up off of St.Clair Ave West. Our supermarket was just a few blocked from here. My sis and I would walk to St Nicolas church every Sunday with Nonno Leonardo and on our way home we use to go to Tre Mare to pickup our fav Pasteries.😋
I was suppose to stay home today and make a new recipe for you guys, but when your daughter calls you and says, let’s go spend time with Nonno Peter and Nonna Joanne (my Papa e Mamma) you drop everything and go.🤩🤷‍♀️
We haven’t done this since I was little. 
He said let’s go to earlscort park. Papa surprised us with a huge cooler full of fruit and cold drinks. He even brought wine and made us some spritz!😂
He found a picnic table & he pulls out a tablecloth with every drink you could imagine.😂I haven’t been to this park in 50 yrs. I mean I drive by there all the time, but sitting at a picnic table & enjoying time together in our big beautiful city….hardly happens.🤷‍♀️We did this when my kids were little as well, but not on St.Clair.
I told my parents that this is going to have to be a weekly meeting from now on.😂☕️St.Clair is very nostalgic for me and my family.  We hung out on St.Clair in 1982 & 2006 when Italy won the World Cup!!🇮🇹🏆⚽️It was a moment I’ll never forget. The look on my Papa’s face was pure joy. A moment in time that everyone should experience in their lifetime.🙏My kids were there 
in 2006. This is a reminder to call your Nonni & your parents & go spend time with them.🙏❤️
Life is too short & spontaneous last minute plans like this are always the best.❤️This reminded me of my childhood, the good old days when things were simple and all our families use to be so close. Then we became adults and everything changed. Suddenly you no longer see your 50 cousins on a weekly basis.☺️I guess this is the circle of life. I am so fortunate to be very close to my immediate family.😍For me, family is everything.👩‍🍳🇮🇹🤗

Anne Marie decided to bake her favourite chocolate chip cookies the other night so I decided to film her bc they’re really good.👌😋👩‍🍳
Fyi-it is recommended to refrigerate the cookie dough for 30 mins to 2hrs, but we never do and they always come out amazing.👌😋
I played a song from her favourite artist. She’s been a huge fan of hers  since she was a little girl. 
You will noticed she was wearing her rings when she started was mixing the cookie dough and I made her remove them. I said no rings while mixing any type of dough. 
She said why everyone does it?? 
I said, absolutely not!!! Rings are full of germs and for me that is not sanitary. So seconds later she removed her rings. 
I don’t mind mixing with my hands, but when I’m mixing the rings need to come off. 🤷‍♀️👩‍🍳

From the moment I was born, I was blessed to be raised by two sets of parents under one roof. My parents, along with my Nonna Concetta and Nonno Leonardo, shaped my life until they passed. They molded my sister and me into the strong women we are today, and my deep love for seniors and our Italian community comes directly from them. Even though they are no longer with us, I carry their love, wisdom, and memories in my heart every day. ❤️🙏
Our seniors mean everything to me. They built our families, our communities, and the cities we call home. They deserve our love, gratitude, and respect. Never forget the sacrifices they made. God bless them always. 🙏❤️🇮🇹🇨🇦
And I have to give a special shout-out to my beautiful Zia Giovannina. ❤️ At 91 years young, she’s my biggest fan, and I’m hers.👩‍🍳👩‍🍳She is full of energy and continues to inspire me every day. I recently saw her at bingo, where she’s been calling the numbers for the past 28 years! 🙏❤️
Zia is our paesana from Montallegro, Sicilia, and she knew my family back home. She and my Nonna Concetta were dear friends in Italy, and every time I see her, she reminds me of my Nonna. What a beautiful blessing. 👩‍🍳🇮🇹❤️

Part 2. This was a labour of love.🙏❤️I grew up eat Part 2. This was a labour of love.🙏❤️I grew up eating these from when I was a teenager. My mil planted her own zucchini flowers back home in Puglia and also here in Canada, in her very own backyard.🇮🇹🇨🇦I loved making them with her. To be honest with you, I think most Italians in Italy don’t even wash them before frying them. 
I guess they think they will ruin the flower. But as organic as they are, I need to give them a good rinse. I made these a few days ago. 3 baskets, 90 in total. I made 55 on friday and 35 on sat. Didn’t realize there was such a generous amount in every basket. Thank you to @19thavenuefarmersmarket for these beautiful zucchini flowers. They were absolutely delicious.👌😋I made a variety. Some with fresh mozzarella/anchovy, ricotta/lemon🌶️, and plain ones for my husband. The star of the show were the ricotta/lemon🍋🌶️. My 3 fav things, so I decided to mix them together and it was absolute magic….perfection!! You will not find these in a restaurant.🤷‍♀️These gorgeous zucchini flowers were not only bursting with their vibrant bright orange colour 🧡, but also with their delicious flavour and that crunch had me going for 2nds, 3rd, 4th etc….You get the picture. 📸🪄🧞‍♀️👩‍🍳🤩🔥🎇
I will share the recipe for the batter which is enough for approx 40 flowers. You’ll need to double it if you make 80. 
For the filling, I also doubled my recipe. I don’t know exactly how many I filled with ricotta, but I would say approx 25 plus. 
Try not to fill them too much or they might break and make a mess in you pan. That didn’t happen to me. Once in a while you will get those little brown bits. Make sure to remove them inbetween frying or they will end up on your flowers.
FYI-The batter is very liquidy, so do not panic or add extra flour. Just give the flowers a shake to remove the excess batter. 
Make sure to use very cold carbonated water in your batter. Also very important is the oil must be very hot. Test it like I did. The last few batches will brown very quickly, so be careful and flip them right away or they will burn. Recipe will be posted in my comments below.⬇️

It’s the season and if you’re wondering what to do It’s the season and if you’re wondering what to do with your fresh Bietola from your garden, or framersmarket, this is how my Nonna did it back in Sicily. Bietola (Swiss chard), potatoes and tomatoes was always a staple in my house growing up.👌😋Infact any vegetables stewed in this manner was always a family fav!! I added a Sicilian twist with some black olives. We love to use olives in alot of our dishes. It just brings it to another level. Try this easy quick dish that can be enjoyed with my focaccia or your fav Italian crunchy bread! Buonissimo!🔥👌👩‍🍳🇮🇹
I prefer boiling my potatoes and bietola separate. I love my potatoes soft and extra creamy.👌

Make sure to use a harder cheese like scamorza or provolone. I used fresh mozzarella bc I didn’t have anything else. It was still delicious, but there was a lot of cheese pull going on. 
Also if you have a larger eggplant, make sure to use it. Mine was a bit smaller as you can see. Take the time and salt your eggplant once you’ve cut it. Put it in a strainer and let it sit for approx 30mins. It will release liquids that are bitter. Discard liquids and you will end up with a much sweeter eggplant.👌🍆
Risotto is a labour of love.❤️
Make sure you use a non-stick medium, deep pan. You can find this pan on my website www.lafocacciaqueen.com
You need to be very patient when making risotto and add 1-2 ladles at a time. Once all broth has absorbed, add in 1-2 more ladles, and keep repeating the process until broth is done. 
Risotto needs to be done while your guests are there. Once ready, it needs to be served right away. Top with 1/3 cup of @parmigianoreggiano.na @parmigianoreggianoglobal. Tear some fresh basil leaves, add on top and enjoy.👌😋👩‍🍳

This is more than a recipe-it is a tribute to the remarkable women who inspired my passion for baking: my Nonna Concetta, my mother-in-law Lucrezia, and all the strong women in my family. My mother never particularly enjoyed baking; as the youngest child, she was always surrounded by sisters and a mother who loved to bake. Her strengths lay elsewhere, and she worked tirelessly throughout her life.
These women were
hardworking, accomplished,

It’s a bit of a challenge making a video with my elderly Zia’s. 🎥🎬Zia Maria doesn’t like to be in Camera.🤷‍♀️There’s always an ingredient that I almost miss! They are not patient enough to look into the camera and wait for me to explain how it’s done. They’re too funny!🤣Love them so much.💗💗Zia Nina 92 and Zia Maria 87 are my Mamma’s sisters. My Mamma has 4 sisters and they were all very independent successful business women, including my Mamma. All my Zia’s are like my second Mamma’s.
